The Black Sand was not as popular as the blue variations of the Mk1 Super Compressor family. While I really like the blue dials, the brown dial has a certain laid back feel and vintage vibe. Also a good match with many brown and tan straps. I can’t really think of any other brown dial watches and probably would not really consider one. But it really works on the Super Compressor with the orange accents.
This one was purchased from CW in 2021 when they cleared them out. I looked at the invoice and shows a price of GBP 500 (ex VAT) on bracelet. I love a great deal on a great watch! This one has the misaligned Super Compressor text on the dial, one of the reasons they were on clearance. You won’t notice, unless you know and look at the dial with a magnifying glass.
The Black Sand may be the black sheep in the Super Compressor family but it is holding its own. My favorite strap is the brown canvas CW strap. But the bracelet and tropic rubber strap wears very nice as well and of course a better choice for water activities in summer.
