Is there any plan to make this forum accessible through TT?

Horology World is a new community site for horology enthusiasts that wants to do things differently. The goal is to combine the ease of posting and community feel of social media sites like Facebook and combine it with the functionality of advanced content software. There are enough forums already and HW doesn't want to be just another forum.

The site: owned and run by enthusiasts and not some large company whose only goals is making money. HW is not trying to compete with any forum or social media site. The goal is to provide a new experience, make content easier to share and combine the best of forums and social media. We listen and are looking for input from members.

Horology may sound a bit stuffy and is often used together with expensive and high-end mechanical watches. But originally, horology applies to any timekeeping device and the science of measuring time. So anything from an inexpensive mechanical watch to an atomic clock is welcome here.

Gallery: Share images of your timepieces by uploading to the site. No third party image sharing sites needed. Search and browse for the images you're looking for.

Collections and Reviews: Many of us are passionate about watches and want to share more information with others. This is the place to write a review or just keep track of watches you have in your collection.

Marketplace: Browsing to see what's for sale should be fun and easy. And posting a watch for sale should be easy as well. You can take pictures with your smart phone, create a new ad, upload the pictures, provide details of what you're selling and you're done in a few minutes. Browse to see what's for sale or was sold in the past is easy by using the filter.

Clubs: This section has similar functionality to Facebook groups or subreddits. Any member can start a new club which is a dedicated place for discussions and sharing images. Think of clubs for a certain watch brand or a specific genre (dive watches, pilot watches, British watches, mechanical clocks and so on). 

Forum: Many enthusiasts have their favorite forums or social media groups where they want to discuss their passion and hobby. HW is not trying to compete with any of these sites. And there are only a few sub forums as we think the Clubs will have more flexibility.

Mobile devices and desktop: The site works great on any size screen, from 30" computer display, a tablet and a smart phone. No need to use Tapatalk and seeing ads everywhere.

Social media integration: Many people already have a Facebook, Twitter or Google+ account. You can use that account to register with our site and become a member. You don't have to remember yet another login name and password. You can login to the site on any device when you're logged in to that social media account you're registered with.

Moderation: Nobody likes to be told what to do and not to do. But there must be a few basic rules to create a friendly community. Just be nice to each other, respect opinions from other enthusiasts and keep it family friendly. That's the terms of service in a nutshell. Be yourself, we encourage to use your real name (first name only if you prefer) and a picture of yourself. As on social media, many people prefer to deal with other real people instead of some unusual user name and avatar.

1) Respect Horology.World members and visitors
There is no need for cursing, flaming, racism, personal attacks or other disrespectful behavior.  

2) Do not spam
Commercial advertising or promotion of commercial services is not allowed in the forums. Selling of watches, clocks, accessories and other horology-related items by businesses is allowed in the Marketplace. Horology.World reserves the right to remove any posts for any reason.

3) Don't get us in trouble
Don't post copyrighted materials, discuss, sell or promote counterfeit items or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble for the site owners, moderators and members of Horology.World

4) Posting etiquette
A well-written post is easy to understand and will get the attention of others. Thread titles should be a clear summary of the subject you are posting about. It is important to stay on or close to the topic of the thread you are posting in. Unrelated, off-topic posts may be deleted or moved to a new thread.

5) Keep the place nice
This site is not the place for obscene, vulgar, pejorative, hateful, threatening or sexually-oriented content, excessive swearing, or other immature behavior. The site does not filter bad words so we rely on everybody to keep it clean. This includes actual words and intent (like substituting characters or abbreviations).

6) Links to other sites
Links to commercial businesses are allowed by second-party individuals and must be in the context of the thread/post. Commercial sellers can link to their products or website when they add value to the forums and other areas of Horology.World

7) The Final Word
The owners and moderators of Horology.World reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any content item for any reason they deem appropriate in accordance to their best judgment. They will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this site but it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and the owners of Horology.World will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

8) Use at your own risk
While there is an effort to present accurate information, there is the possibility of incomplete or incorrect information. Horology.World, moderators, and contributors cannot assume liability for any damage or loss incurred for using any information on this website. Information in tutorials and posts is intended to inform.

9) Copyright and content on Horology.World
All original content on the site is property of the authors. No content may be used without written consent from the author/HW member. Edits and deletions in the forum may be done within 30 days. After this time, content becomes part of HW indefinitely and can not be changed or removed. 

10) Accounts and content
A member can request to have their account deleted from the site. All personal information like email address and profile information will be removed but all content posted by that member remains on the site. Removing content will disrupt the flow of many threads and the integrity of the site.

11) Content on Horology.World
Content from other websites may not be directly copied to Horology.World, unless you are the author of such material. Excerpts of or quotes from external content should always identify the source. 

12) Horology.World content on other blogs and news websites
You may only copy brief excerpts of any content and properly credit Horology.World as your source. Translation of content for a limited number of articles in other languages than English is allowed but Horology.World must be identified as the source, including a link to the original site content.

PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available in our footer and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.

Email address
Your email address will only be used for notifications as specified in your user settings. This includes notifications about new content in threads, forums, collections, gallery, clubs and marketplace if subscribed and enabled, lost password assistance and so on. All these notifications are automatically sent out by the site.

Occasionally, HW administrators may send important information or updates and news about the site. HW will never sell, use or make your email address or personal information available to any other companies, individuals or other parties, unless legally required by law.

Logging
Log files are maintained and analysed of all requests for files on this website's web servers. Log files do not capture personal information but do capture the user's IP address, which is automatically recognised by our web servers.

Cookies
This website does not store any information that would, on its own, allow us to identify individual users of this service without their permission. Any cookies that may be used by this website are used either solely on a per session basis or to maintain user preferences. Cookies are not shared with any third parties.

Social Media
Your Facebook, Google and Twitter profile and login can be used to access Horology.World and link your social media and Horology.World member account. Horology.World does not use, share or store any of your personal or other information related to your social media accounts.

Sharing images has never been easier. There are many ways you can add images to a post:

* Drag or choose files from your computer to the area below the post.

* Copy a link from an existing image on any website and paste in a forum post. No need to use image tags, the forum will automatically embed in the post

* Copy and past a gallery url in a post and it will automatically put the album in the post.

* Insert other media

You can use an existing image in your gallery albums or choose a post attachment you used before.

Sharing videos is done by just copying and pasting the URL from any video site. No video tags are needed.

Thanks Frank.  I thought I would test how easy it is to post images.  It seems like an album for each particular brand might be good for people searching for specific watches.  An album for Omega, CW, Rolex, Seiko etc.  

Creating the Hamilton album and posting the image was intuitive and easy.

It was interesting to see how much exif data it shows on the image.

I already created a category for CW watches and will do the same for other new brands that are posted. 

Categories contain albums and albums contain pictures. Members can create as many albums as they want in any category.
