  • Eterna KonTiki Four-Hands

    A reliable companion

How can one develop a familiar model without irritating the connoisseurs? At Eterna, the answer is: with a little ingenuity. Which is why the KonTiki Four Hands is called just that: that fourth hand preserves the integrity of the familiar and beloved KonTiki look. No aperture for a date calendar here! Just neat hour figures and markers framing a centrepiece inscribed with ancient runic characters ...  along with a flange calendar whose dates are picked out by the arrowhead tip of the fourth hand.

    Reminder of the origins

KonTiki, the Inca sun god, is a name forever linked to the Eterna brand. It recalls the seafaring adventure of Thor Heyerdahl and his crew. In 1947, he and his companions sailed for 101 days and nights aboard a primitive balsawood raft from the coast of Peru to the Raroia atoll in Polynesia in a bid to demonstrate the possibility of the settlement of Polynesia from South America rather than from Asia. All aboard wore an Eterna wristwatch that performed flawlessly throughout their extraordinary adventure. In a tribute to that memorable exploit, the caseback of all KonTiki models bear a medallion featuring an engraving of the raft.
