Special edition. Special price
A pilot’s watch is a must-have of any horological collection.
And they don’t come more must-have than the C8 Pilot Revival Special Edition.
An upgraded version of our C8 Pilot, its design is inspired by the ‘B-Uhren’ watches used by pilots and navigators during World War II. In every way – from the finishing to the movement to the construction – this is a premium pilot’s watch able to hold its own with the very best of the genre.
The only thing that isn’t premium is the price: just £495.
But what makes this watch even more special is the ‘Chr. Ward’ logo that sits at 12 o’clock. A logo that was retired in 2016 (with not a little controversy), for some CW fans it retains a special place in their hearts.
The C8 was inspired by a love for B-Uhren pilots’ watches – some of which were up to 55mm in diameter. Navigators would strap the watch around their thighs so they could work on their maps without having to glance back and forth to their wrist. While a contemporary watch that big is impractical, the 44mm case of the C8 Pilot Revival Special Edition still makes a powerful statement.
It also allows for a dial that’s both legible and sophisticated. Mirroring the original C8 Pilot, the bold Arabic numerals, indexes and reference triangle at 12 o’clock are coated with Super-LumiNova® C1 BL Grade X1 for timekeeping after dark. Meanwhile, the oversize crown is another authentic touch – glove-wearing pilots couldn’t adjust their watches with regular-size crowns.
Power comes courtesy of the Sellita SW200-1, which can be viewed through the exhibition case back. Finally, as the name suggests, this is a strictly limited edition: with 200 stainless steel versions available, and just 50 in moody matte-black DLC (diamond-like carbon).
